Heel Spurs Can Ruin Your Summer if You’re Not Doing These 3 Things
Our feet get the most use out of any other part of our body. We use them to move from place to place, and they take the force of every stress placed on them. Day-in and day-out, they consistently provide us with steady performance. That is, unless a foot condition develops. This can include heel spurs, hammertoes, bunions and many other ailments. Feet need to be pampered more than any part of the body. Many years of pain-free feet can be the result of taking good care of them. Here are 3 ways that feet can be pampered this summer, even in the warm weather.
How a Pedicure and Massage Can Make Foot Discomfort Disappear
Pamper feet with a soothing pedicure, first and foremost. This is a wonderful way to take off any dead skin cells from the feet and toes as well as to replenish the foot’s moisture balance. Rehydration is an advantage from a pedicure because feet are soaked in water and then lotion is applied for maximum moisture retention. If the salon offers the indulgence of a warm foot bath with a moisturizerizing additive, that is an even better way to replenish moisture. As advised by the American Podiatric Medical Association, sterilized metal implements should always be used by the salon to avoid the spread of toenail fungus from one person to another. Pedicures not only make feet look great, but they give them with increased circulation through massage. Since the entire lower leg and foot is usually massaged during a pedicure, the foot is relieved of tensions and oxygen-rich blood can be moved throughout the feet to ease tension! Even heel spurs and flat feet don’t pester feet as much after one of these pampering treatments!
Footwear Mechanics: The Evils of Sandals, Thongs, and Flip-Flops
Summer is here and thongs are worn more often at this time of the year. Foot conditions such as low foot arches and heel spurs can become painful for people who use flat footwear or go bare-footed. As reported by podiatrists, not having any support in the arch can cause this part of the foot to become too relaxed and uncomfortable. Though both of these conditions of the foot can be treated with special foot orthotics, thongs simply cannot provide proper arch support…until now. Special thongs for warm weather have been developed and some of them are quite fashionable. Look for thongs like these because they come with arch support inserts for rigid arch support. You can take them to the beach, go walking at the mall or even wear them to an amusement park; these sandals will give you hours of comfort. Spoil feet with thongs like these in lieu of wearing common, flat flip-flops.
How Simple Daily Changes Can Make Feet Sing
The third way to spoil your feet during summer is to increase water consumption, excercise, and keep them raised for 20 minutes each and every day. Warmer weather can cause swelling in the feet and ankles which can worsen problems such as heel spurs and flat feet. This can cause daily aching and pain in the feet for many people. One suggested excercise that really helps beat the heat as well as increase circulation is going for a swim. If a physical fitness plan, excellent water consumption, and 20 minutes of keeping the foot elevated are consistent throughout the summer, feet will hurt less and swelling will be kept to a minimum.
This summer, try a pedicure, supportive footwear, and raising the feet. You’ll immediately rehydrate your skin, decrease bloating, and lessen pain. Don’t deprive your feet of the relaxing spoiling they deserve!
